JESIN’S HAT-TRICK AND VISHNU’S GOAL POWER EMAMI EAST BENGAL TO A 4-0 WIN OVER GEORGE TELEGRAPH

Shirsho Times Desk: Emami East Bengal FC defeated George Telegraph SC 4-0 in their final Calcutta Football League 2023 Premier Division Group B match at the East Bengal Ground earlier today. Jesin TK’s hat-trick and Vishnu PV’s goal propelled the Red & Golds to the Super Six round as group toppers with 30 points from 12 matches (9 wins and 3 draws).

The first half ended goalless despite EEB creating multiple chances. In the 16th minute, Vanlalpeka Guite’s goal-bound header was blocked by the George Telegraph custodian.The Mizo midfielder had another chance to give EEB the lead in the 29th minute when he pounced on a loose ball inside the opposition box. However, his shot missed the crossbar by a whisker.Seven minutes later, Mahitosh Roy, who scored the winner in EEB’s previous CFL match against Calcutta Customs, attempted a header after receiving a cross from Souvik Chakrabarti.In a bid to bolster the attack, EEB Coach Bino George introduced Jesin TK and Vishnu PV right after the half-time break. The attacking duo wasted no time and got into the scoring act, netting 3 goals in 5 minutes.Only 9 seconds into the second half, Jesin scored off Vishnu’s assist to break the deadlock. Statistically, it was the fastest goal by an East Bengal player in the second half of a match. In the 48th minute, the Kerala striker scored again, this time off a rebound.Four minutes later, Vishnu netted EEB’s third goal of the match and his second of CFL 2023. 

In the 81st minute, EEB earned a penalty after fullback Niranjan Mondal was brought down by George Telegraph’s Bappa Prasad after cutting in from the right.Jesin scored from the spot to complete his hat-trick. It was the first time in four years that an East Bengal player registered a hat-trick in senior men’s football.Jesin, who now has 4 CFL goals to his credit, was adjudged the Player of the Match. The victory marked EEB’s 5th consecutive CFL victory and helped them continue their unbeaten run in the tournament.
